Lapland Fishing Festival 2008

The LFF 2008 was finalised in a Lapland that showed its best, sunny face towards the competitors

Congratulations to Guntis (LAT) and Aldo (ITA) 

The 2008 LFF were held in an almost tropical summer heat , and the pike looked like they were in a total chock, trying to adapt to the change from the very cold days before the competition.  

The weather were not only tough for the pike. The fishermen tried there best to tempt the beasts in the deap. But this prooved very hard, and most of the pike caught were only some small and very hungry baby pike. Some of the competitors , started to change area from the vegetation zone to the deep pools of the river, and got in contact with some serious pike though, but failed to get them inside the boat.

Most of us was very surprised that Guntis Riekstins from latvia managed to get 7 pike the first day, when many competitors really struggled to get even one. It was not a coincidence that Guntis later became the winner of the LFF-

it was no more than pure skills.

The fly fishing was easier, and a number of grayling and trout were caught in the magnificent river Juktån. Some competitors even filled the protocole. It becam extremmely exciting when Aldo (ITA) and Fernando (ROM) were getting the exact same position after two days fishing. Due to the fact that Aldo had more points, he managed to end up as the winner, but both of them prooved extremelly skilled.

We have now started the coopetion with Norway in a common project including LFF and the Seatrout Festival . This means that LFF will move date from previous Years to make it possible to join the competitions in both Sweden and Norway (appr 4 h cardrive)

1 st weekend in August: Lapland Fishing Festival
2nd weekend in August: The Seatrout Festival (probably also with spin fishing)
