Lycksele
Lycksele is situated 135 km west of Umeå, by road E 12, next to the river Umeälven. Umeå, the biggest town in the county of Västerbotten (110 000 citizens) is situated appr 700 km north of Stockholm
By car: Go north from Stockholm on the E4 (for 700 km) to Umeå. In the centre of Umeå, follow road E 12 towards Lycksele for 135 km (about 1.5 h drive)
OBS: The traffic in Swedish Lapland is very moderate compared to the rest of Europe, and You will never risk to be stuck in the traffic.
At a 2 h drive in Lapland forrest region You might meet less than 100 cars.
By flight: Several companies can be used from Stockholm/Arlanda.
SAS and Norwegian goes to Umeå about 8 times per day
MAP OF THE FISHING AREA
There are several airports in Västerbotten County and all of them are located in between 1-1 ½ hours flight from Stockholm. The communications with Stockholm is very good with several flights per day to and from Umeå and Lycksele. If you want to visit the inner part of Lapland the airports of Lycksele, Vilhelmina or Storuman may be a better choice. Continuing from the airports the best alternative is to take a rental car and then drive to the chosen destination. The roads and the access to the wilderness are good and traffic intensity is very low and relaxed.
