Rules - Short version

Pike fishing

The drawing on friday decides partner, boat and captain. The two sessions are 3 h each and starts with a signal, and the water may not be fished until the signal is given. Competitors may have two rods assembled, but is only allowed to fish one rod at a time. Spinfishing or flyfishing, with maximum one three hook (treble-hook) or three single hooks ares allowed. Barbed hooks are allowed and the fish must be hooked in the head area in front of the gill cover. The competitor must net the fish without assistance and give it immidiately to the controller, who check the bait and fill in the protocole. After the session, both the controller and competitor must sign the protocole. Life west is recommended. The organisers do not take any responcibility for accidents. Only pike, minimum size 40 cm, is eligable fish.

Fly fishing

One flyrod may be used during fishing but spare rods may be kept on the bank.Leaders may be of any type, no sinking/floating devices may be used. Each fly shall be tied on one single hook without size limit and weighted flies (gold heads etc) are allowed. A maximum of three flies is permitted. All flies will be dressed on hooks that are barbless, or with barbs squeezed down flat. The competition water is equally divided into beats, with a buffer zone between.

If a fish, hooked within his beat, swims into the buffer zone, the angler may play the fish from inside his own beat and it must be landed in his own beat. Eligible fish will be grayling and trout with a minimum size of 20 cm. Only fish hooked in the moutharea (in front of the gill cover) will be eligible. Fish hooked within timelimit is eligible if landed within 10 minutes after the end of period. Fish must be landed in a net by the competitor. The competitor shall check and sign the card at the end of each period. Eligible fish scores 100 points plus 20 points per centimetre. The length is from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail.

Insurance and safety

Every competitor is responcible for there own insurance and safety, during the Lapland Fishing Festival. Floating device must be used during all spin fishing, if you don´t bring your own, you must use the standard life west that is supported by the organizers. Those are not as comfortable as modern floating device, so we strongly recommend that you bring your own.
